From Fabric to Stuffed Animal: Doan Thi Diem Secondary School Students Explore Craftsmanship at Kym Viet Go Workshop

What steps does a stuffed animal go through before it reaches its owner? Students from Doan Thi Diem Secondary School found part of the answer during a workshop at Kym Viet Go workshop. From pieces of fabric, layers of stuffing, and skillful hands, they had a memorable experience.

Entering the Workshop and Observing How Products Are Made

Upon entering the workshop, the students toured the working space, where various fabrics, tools, and finished handmade products were displayed. They watched skilled artisans at work, from selecting fabric and cutting patterns to sewing and assembling.

Beyond observing, they listened to an introduction to the process of creating a stuffed animal. The meticulousness of each step sparked their interest and curiosity to try it themselves.

Hands-On Experience with Stuffed Animal Making Steps

After the observation, the students directly participated in making stuffed animals. From adjusting seams, stuffing, to finishing the product, each step required focus and dexterity.

With patient guidance from the workshop’s artisans, the students gradually became more skilled. Joy was evident on their faces as each one completed their own stuffed animal.

Learning Coordination and Communication in the Workshop

A special feature of the experience was learning basic sign language. Communicating with the deaf artisans at the workshop became easier and more intimate.

The students had moments of exchanging, coordinating with each other and with the instructors. The patience and enthusiasm of the workshop team helped them understand teamwork and empathy better.

Artisans as Instructors

At Kym Viet Go workshop, skilled artisans, including those who are deaf, serve as experienced instructors. They pass on the techniques of making stuffed animals in a meticulous and understandable way.

Their professionalism and dedication created a positive learning environment for the students. They not only learned new skills but also felt the passion for craftsmanship.

The Outcome of the Experience

At the end of the workshop, each student took home a stuffed animal they had made themselves. It was the result of focus, patience, and skill throughout the experience.

These products are not just toys but also beautiful memories of a rewarding and memorable extracurricular activity.
